I definitely do! But you know, the crises seem to be at the transition ages – all my friends in their 70s seem well adjusted! I can’t wait – I hope it happens to me 🙂

  • Thanks for these thoughts, Jeannine. I found myself paralyzed in the face of the FB thread because I thought: well, success relative to what? I’ve grabbed some of the golden rings you mention and often feel immensely privileged; I often also feel overlooked and underestimated, struggling to publish work that should be an easy sell, and guilty about letting myself down by not keeping priorities straight. So, yes, success seems like a moving target. I try to ask myself instead: “So, what good work can I do today/ this month/ this year?”

  • Jeannine, I enjoy your posts and this one was particularly impactful. You hit on a topic — what is success? — I feel all us poets (and writers) deal with. I am with Lesley and tell myself if I am creating and bringing art into the world that is the first “level” of success. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts — always so eloquently and openly — and giving us a platform to bounce these ideas off of.
