Good News – Flare, Corona Will Come Out From BOA Editions in Fall 2023
I can finally share my good news! The fantastic BOA Editions will publish my book Flare, Corona in the Fall of 2023! I could not be more excited!
I am so happy to join the press that published some of my biggest poetry heroes, like Lucille Clifton and Dorianne Laux! It’s a dream press for sure!
This book is something I’ve been working on for the last five years, that involves solar weather, getting diagnosed with cancer and then multiple sclerosis, and watching the progress of the new coronavirus – but don’t worry, it’s still me, so it’s got the occasional supervillain and fairy tale character to keep things fun. And weird. Thanks to everyone who read a version of this manuscript and gave their input, encouragement, and help!
Last week, the Monday after Thanksgiving, I got a phone call from Peter Conners, the publisher of BOA, to tell me they loved the book and wanted to publish it. I was over the moon! I could not believe it. And I wanted to tell everyone right away!
This will be my seventh poetry book, and I will turn 50 right before it comes out – so it’s really less of an overnight success than a 20 year journey…which makes it an even happier moment. It’s also a testament to keep sending out your work – you never know who is going to surprise you and believe in it.
