OK, drum roll…
Here’s a link to the draft of the cover art for Becoming the Villainess from Steel Toe Books, on bookshelves everywhere (hopefully) next year…

The text and author pic on the back are all just placeholders, complete with typos etc. Let me know what you think! The art was created by the multi-talented Michaela Eaves.
And, where is Jim Behrle when you need him? I’m trying to choose a pic for the back and I need him to tell me “what the hell is up with my author photo?”

Fun cover! I like the all the red. And such a nice blurb from DL.

Oh you have two of my favorite ppl on the back cover. I love the whole thing…wonderful art. I’m going to buy it.
Rusty
Awesome! Sorry E and I missed you!
Steven D. Schroeder
That’s a badass cover.
Jennifer
I LOVE IT!!!!

Wow. the only way I’ll be able to bring a copy into the house is to compare it to that Fence cover in front of my wife. (“SEE! It’s not so bad!). Anyway…
I love the cover. Some nits: The endcapping V and S are a nice look, almost suggesting fangs; any way to have the same look on the back cover? The tousled preening is a good image, and the reflection (or the looking over her shoulder?) adds nice subtext(or whatever the appropriate visual arts word is). Back cover’s a teeny bit crowded in my opinion, but dropping “Advance Praise For” 3-4 points would resolve it. Will you left-justify both blurbs?
This is really a terrific package for your poems. You must be so pleased.

Very cool.
Behrle, Prince of Trolls
I’m ready, lay it on me.

I like how the Raven is gonna bite your face, and the Scarlet Witch cover. But your photo looks like you’re gonna speak at some self-help business symposium–“Getting to the Real Leader Inside Yourself When You Really Just Want to Check Your E-mail All Day.” Or some shit. And your a babe, loose the marble background, give us a glint in your eye.

PS: That consult’s gonna cost you a $2 Starbucks giftcard. xxx

Sweet! Very graphic-novelish.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! Michaela Eaves gets all the credit for the beautiful art work.
This is just the draft, I’ll post the final version when it’s ready…I appreciate everyone letting me know what they think!
