Links, etc…Book tours, submitting practices, six questions
Ever wonder what it’s like to go on an unfunded 17-day poetry book tour to promote your new book? Me too! Keith Monstesano gives us a blow-by-blow here.
Do you submit your poetry like a girl? Well, stop it. See Kelli’s post here.
Want to ask Kitsune Books’ editor Anne Petty six questions?
I’ve got another tendon injury. This one I can walk with, though I can’t do stairs or curbs, so it’s not as bad as the previous one. Still, I am wondering which tendon spirits I have been angering lately?
I also got my first blurb in. It was beautiful. I feel so grateful to everyone who has ever taken a look at my second book manuscript, to Rene Lynch for permission to use the beautiful cover art, to people willing to say nice things about me and my writing on the back cover of the book, and of course, to the editors at Kitsune. A lot of gratitude.

I don’t even have a contract finalized on my 2nd book but I’m already thinking – who will I ask for blurbs? Hard to decide who. I don’t want to use the same people every time etc etc. How well do you think you need to know the person you are asking?
Sorry about the tendons! I have to watch my poor feet because I get plantar fascitis 🙁

I think that you should ask people you have at least some relationship with – otherwise you might never hear back! On this second book, I did want to ask different people than the first book, and also I wanted the people on the blurbs to reflect the subject matter and style – so I asked an expert on Japanese pop culture to blurb it, for instance. Most of the people I asked I don’t know well, but I had e-mailed with them or had other kinds of contact.

That is great that you found a pop culture person to do a blurb 🙂 I’m really not sure who I want to use for the second book but definitely want to go with different people so i don’t wear out people!!

I have two haibun in my first book. One near the beginning of the manuscript, and one near the end.
